21 free calculators and spreadsheets

How much fabric, what to charge, what's left on the shelf

Kitvert is 21 free calculators and Google Sheets templates for quilters, freelancers and handmade sellers. The calculators answer on the page as you type, and a spreadsheet costs only an email address.

The three buttons below are where most questions start. Everything else is on the full list of free tools.

Each table is what the tool shows for its sample inputs. Type the same numbers into the calculator, or open the sample data in the download, and you should land on the same figures.

How it fits together

How the free tools and the paid kits fit together

Every calculator is free and asks for nothing. Every spreadsheet on the free list is free too, sent to the email you give. A handful of bigger spreadsheets will cost a one-off payment, and none of them can be bought yet.

Pick the question closest to yours

Each card opens with the question people in that line of work ask first. The links under it are the other free tools for the same kind of work.

The full free shelf

All 21, grouped by who tends to use them. The invoice template sits in two columns because freelancers and sellers both send invoices.

Pick any link — they're all free. Or browse them grouped: all calculators and all free spreadsheets. How the numbers are checked, and where the fee and tax figures come from, is on the About page.

The paid spreadsheets, for when a free one runs out

  • The $29 Seller Back-Office Kit puts costing, stock, a simple ledger and invoices on one product list. The spreadsheet is built, and the page has a list for one email when checkout opens.
  • Freelancing? The Freelance rate card & boundaries pack ($29 planned) turns the calculator's rate into hourly, day and project prices, holds your revision, rush, payment and kill-fee rules, and prints both on one page you can send a client.
  • Quilting for clients? The longarm rate planner and commission quote kit are planned at $35 each, or $49 for both in the Quilter who sells pack. A pattern break-even sheet is planned separately at $19.

Rather build the inventory sheet yourself than download ours? The track-inventory-in-Google-Sheets guide builds the same system from scratch, formula by formula.

What's the catch?

There's no trial that turns into a bill. The calculators stay free, the spreadsheets cost an email address so the file has somewhere to go, and the paid kits, once they open, are a single payment with nothing recurring.

  1. Use it free

The calculators answer in your browser, and each template page shows the tabs and columns in the file before you ask for it.

  2. Get the file by email

Want a spreadsheet to keep? Leave an email and it arrives in one message, as an .xlsx that opens in Google Sheets or Excel.

  3. Pay only if you ever want more

If a free sheet stops being enough, the Seller Back-Office Kit and the quilting pricing kits go further. They're paid once, with no subscription.

Selling software instead? There are free launch workflows too

This part of the site is for a different reader: someone who sells software or digital products and already runs n8n and Notion. If you quilt, freelance or sell handmade goods, everything you need is further up the page.

Common questions

Are the tools really free?

Yes. The calculators run in your browser and don't ask for anything. The spreadsheets cost an email address, because that's how we send you the file. A few paid spreadsheets are planned: the $29 Seller Back-Office Kit, and the longarm rate planner and commission quote kit at $35 each, or $49 together as the Quilter who sells pack. Until checkout opens, each of those pages has a list you can join for one email when it does. Software sellers on n8n and Notion also have the $99 Indie Operator Stack under Kits.

Do the calculators need an account or an email?

No. Type your numbers and the answer is on the page. If you want something to print and pin by the cutting mat, the free quilt cutting-plan worksheet goes with the yardage and binding calculators. Other calculator pages will say when they get a printable sheet of their own.

Does the inventory template work in Excel?

Yes. It's an .xlsx file using only formulas that Google Sheets and Excel share, so you can import it into Google Sheets or open it in Excel directly.

What is the Seller Back-Office Kit?

A $29 spreadsheet kit built around the free inventory sheet: product costing, a simple income and expense ledger and an invoice tab, all reading from one product list. The file is built, but checkout hasn't opened. Join the list on the Back-Office page and you'll get one email when it can be bought. Joining costs nothing.

I sew / sell on Etsy / freelance — is the Kits section for me?

Usually no. Kits is for people who sell software or digital products and already run n8n and Notion. Quilters, freelancers and handmade sellers should stay with the calculators and spreadsheets on this page. The one exception is the freelance rate card pack, a plain spreadsheet that happens to live under Kits.
